The Story So Far:
Yosef, a nervous and anti-social rat who recently migrated to the Suburbs from the city finds himself a bit disenchanted with the new surroundings. To make matters worse, an ataxic and somewhat daft feline spots him and he is forced to use his wits - and her insanity - to find a safe way out of the situation.

<Yoseph was starting to realize just how many things were wrong with this cat. Between the flailing, twitching, and bobbing, what was wrong physically was apparent and neurological. But he'd seen cats like this in the city who were still completely mentally acute; not the case for this feline. She was, if not mentally stunted, very mentally confused. What's more, she appeared to be suffering from an abundant lack of instincts and prey drive; surely just the scent of a rat should have put her into a predatory frenzy, yet she was unresponsive to him and fully believed his outlandish tale of being a demon. If all cats were like this, I would have never left the city, mused the rat.
Of course, now he had to maintain this lie. The cat, though a bit odd, was clearly sound enough to think of things like purpose and intent based on her questions, which means he needed to come up with a convincing reason fast for his presence if he was to maintain the illusion. Frowning a little, he sat back on his haunches, running his paws through his grizzly belly-fur for a few moments before anxiously passing them over his muzzle and ears. His tail begged for a once-over, but all of this composure grooming wasn't getting him any closer to having an answer, so he finally decided to just settle on something simple.>
"Why am I here? Ho - this is my earthly home! I am gathering information for the underworld while I stay here - information on animals like yourself."
