The Story So Far....
Auhlae and Devil's Guardian are finally settling in together in their new territory following the disasterous collapse of Khahirre's pack. As they reflect on the future, especially the possibility of puppies, they are interrupted by a familiar face from the past: Thor, Auhlae's supposedly dead former mate! The wolfhound had waited for years for an opprotunity to return to her side, which he got in the confusion of the brush fire caused by his owner's hunting party. Unfortunately, Auhlae had neglected to tell her mate and offspring about Thor, creating some contention - which resulted in Macula running off in an angry huff.
Were this not enough, Theto arrives on the pack territory at death's door from emaciation, desperate for help for Tasha and their remaining pup. Failure to secure adequate food supplies with the grasslands fire left the pack and its new pups in dire straits, a problem exacerbated by rocky relations between the pair. DG and Auhlae retrieve the pups, while Thor and Thorin hunt for prey. Elsewhere, Macula is about to make the situation just a little more complicated.

<Auhlae's thoughts watching Theto tenderly care for the puppy mirrored Devil's Guardian's. Though she'd had many pups so far - Mordechai, her pups with Thor, Macula - there had never really been an opprotunity to have a normal lifestyle. She'd been so young raising Mordechai, and had no father for her pup. Worse still, in her mental state she probably had not been the best mother. Then she and Thor had pups together, to the dismay of the pack, but not as an alpha pair; as thus, they couldn't really control how their children were raised. And before they were even full grown, they are Thor were taken away from her. Macula's conception had been just as violent and difficult for her as Mordechai's, and Mikhail was certainly not a good example of a normal "puppy" raising experience.
In other words? She had a pack now, albiet a small one. She had a loving mate, a fully grown pup, and the at least temporary assistance of an old... friend. While perhaps this instant was not the best time to go about having pups, she knew she would be in heat soon enough, and would love to try raising pups with Devil's Guardian. He was the first wolf she'd even felt strongly enough about to wish such, and though she was aging and neither of them were the finest physical specimins, she was certain that they could handle puppies after all they'd survived.
Thus, she smiled and nudged him, gesturing to the tender scene of Theto with his pup, then gently rested her head over his shoulders for a few moments, tail wagging slightly. The moment was interrupted by the sound of Tasha vommitting in the distance, and she rolled her eyes knowing the starving fae had gorged herself too rapidly. Oh well; she could eat that too later; it hadn't been down long, after all.>
<Theto, meanwhile, was enjoying the simple acts of fatherhood he'd been denied for so long. Part of him wanted to lay down and rest, or eat some food for himself, but Ookami's eager nipping and licking at his muzzle kept him going. He winced a little as he thought of how many more pups should have been there, begging for his attentions, and wished he never let Tasha leave, or at least wished he'd pursued her more dilligently. Ookami shouldn't have been some starving survivor of a tradgedy; she should have been a fat, happy pup toddling through the undergrowth with yipping, playful siblings. This thought made his throat tighten and eyes burn, but he kept on feeding. Little did he know, he might soon have the opprotunity to see Ookami playing with "siblings" after all...>
