Are you new to RPing? That's ok! Below is a list of general information on how to roleplay at Feral Civilization (and in general). These are just some basics, not the rules to the site - so please don't forget to read the rest of the information on this section of the forum! ~ RW
Roleplay is a combination of actions, thought, and dialouge.
You may post multiple characters at once. To do this, make clear to other readers who is saying what. There are several ways to do this:
To make a comment to another RPer, you needn't go to the chat forum and wait for an response there; instead, you merely post your comment before or after your text in one of the following formats:
Sometimes, a degree of privacy is desired when posting. There are several designations that can be typed in the title of a thread to discourage other players:
Roleplay is meant to be interactive. This means that a well-developed, attention-grabbing post with genuine effort invested is likely to garner the interest of other RPers. Posts that are poorly constructed, grammatically inferior, short, and dull are often overlooked. Please, put some effort into your postings.
Furthermore, even if no one is on, try posting! We can't very well respond to you if you never make a topic. Part of staying active is posting when no one else is there yet; our members have a variety of active hours, so this RPG often does not proceed in real time.
If a thread you are in "dies," its ok! Don't panic - you're not tied to that one thread. If after one week no one is responding, and no explanation has been given for the abscence of the other player(s), you are permitted to leave. It would be good of you, however, to state that you are leaving in the thread. See below for the reason why.
Please do not have the same player in multiple active threads at once, namely because you can't be more than one place in real life, so you can't be here. Posting one character in more than one thread is confusing to other members and disrupts the flow of the RPG.
I hope this information helps new members and inexperienced RPers to properly navigate and use this site! If you have any questions - even if they seem silly - please feel free to send a private message to any of our administrators or moderators. Now, please proceed to the rules.~ RW#nosmileys#nosmileys

Roleplay is a combination of actions, thought, and dialouge.
- To express an action, you may choose to enclose the written action in one of the following ways:
::the lupe enters::
<the lupe enters>
-the lupe enters-
+the lupe enters+ - If you wish to express an action as though writing normally, simply use paragraph form, and clearly designate speech and thought as seperate.
- To express thought, you can be creative - just make it very clear that you are thinking and not speaking. The use of italics is most common.
- To express dialouge, it is strongly preferable that you use quotation marks. If you wish to do something different, just be certain that your designations are consistent and easily understood by other members.
You may post multiple characters at once. To do this, make clear to other readers who is saying what. There are several ways to do this:
- Designate who is saying/doing what prior to the enclosed text. (ie: Kangl: <enters the forest> )
- Write the actions of only one character within the enclosed text at a time. (ie: <Kangl enters the forest.> <Trista sees Kangl> )
- Simply write in paragraph format, making it obvious to other readers who is saying and doing what. (ie: Kangl padded towards Trista. She lowered her head and growled. "Stay back.")
To make a comment to another RPer, you needn't go to the chat forum and wait for an response there; instead, you merely post your comment before or after your text in one of the following formats:
- OOC (Out of Character) or OCC (Out of Character Comment) can be written before any text said by you, the player instead of you, the character.
- Words encased in double-parentheses with a line break before or after the RP text are generally recognized as out of character.
- Words followed by a dash and your username with a line break before or after the RP text are generall recognized as out of character.
Sometimes, a degree of privacy is desired when posting. There are several designations that can be typed in the title of a thread to discourage other players:
- N/I - N/I stands for "No Interference." This suggests that you are doing individual character development and do not want anyone else posting in the thread.
- Open - an N/I thread can be re-opened to other RPers by replacing the N/I with Open, or typing "Open" as an OCC in the thread.
- (Username) - A username, or multiple usernames, placed in parentheses following a title indicates that a thread is open only to those specific members.
- (Plot Name) - The name of a plot line placed in parentheses following a title indicates that a thread is only open to those specific members.
