OOC: After approximately two years, I present to you...the bird plot!
BIC: Sing'a'dadee the hermit thrush is sitting on a thin branch, feathers fluffed up against the cold that threatens to seep into her body. Though she is putting all her effort into defending herself from the relentless chill, her actions are nearly futile. She ruffles her feathers, uncomfortable in the declining temperatures. Winter is such a miserable time of year. She's certainly not her usual feisty self - reduced to sitting in one spot, trying desperately to keep warm? Psh. Sing'a'dadee shakes her head in a somewhat saddened, but deliberate way, as if to express her emotional displeasure, and simultaneously warm her neck muscles. With a slight humph, she nestles down closer to the branch, feeling miserable in the icy cold.
A few yards away from where Sing'a'dadee is perched, an unlikely pair of birds are chirping together cordially. Frostglitter, the Fox Sparrow, and Icey, the Lazuli Bunting, have been inseparable buddies for over a year now, despite their complete differences in personality.
"I hate this weather! It's just so...cold. And miserable," Frostglitter pipped grumpily.
"It's chilly, but besides that, it's such a beautiful day!" Icey chirped merrily. Frostglitter just huffed. This wasn't the first winter that the two had weathered together; in fact, it was winter's deadly grip that had brought the two together. About a year ago, they had both been futilely looking for any signs of prey, bumping into eachother and quickly forming an unlikely alliance, that turned into a permanent friendship. Now, they were found everywhere together.
Frostglitter looked around, sighed, and complained again, "It's too cold. And I'm hungry. This is torture. When is spring again?"
Icey just chuckled in a shrill sort of way, replying, "Stop complaining, you whiny sparrow! We can look for food in a little bit - why don't we fly around a bit and warm ourselves up?"
Frostglitter reluctantly agreed, knowing that if she didn't, Icey wouldn't help her find food until she changed her mind. Grumbling in protest, Frostglitter stretched her wings and took off from the branch. Icey followed suit a few moments later. They tumbled through the air, gliding between the trees and branches, in a somersaulting game of bird-tag.
What none of the birds realized is that a sinister force was soon to intrude upon their territory...well, okay, maybe not so sinister. Just a bunch of elderly birdwatchers, no doubt just trying to find some rare bird decked out in its winter plumage.
