For the birdplot And look, only one of them is totally crazy! I'm learning moderation.
Character name: Mephistopheles
Species: Horned Lark
Gender: Male
Age: 3 years
Personality: Freud would have words to say about a human man as lisping, effeminate, and fussy as Mephistopheles the lark; yet the animal is utterly heterosexual and, furthermore, cannot recall an iota of trauma in his life. Beneath his chatter, there is a certain cleverness to the animal, and a curiosity which leads him into a small amount of trouble, from time to time.
History: See above; nothing notable.
Character name: Hilarion
Species: Marsh Wren
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years
Personality: An industrious and cheerful soul, perennially convinced a female will come to his nest-laden territory and perennially disappointed in this conviction. At this point, his love his more clearly placed with the construction of his nests than in any hope of a future mate and clutch. Due to the lack of his own species in the area and the lonesomeness in result of this, he’s quite inclined towards chatting up any passersby.
History: A longtime resident of GF. For more, er, read above?
Character name: Chicory
Species: Blue Jay/Steller’s Jay
Gender: Female
Age: 4 years
Personality: A somber individual, introspective, and, in a very quiet manner, maudlin. Her standoffishness can sometimes be read as rudeness. Underneath the latent depression, she has a quirky mind and a strange sense of humor.
History: Chick of two disparate species and not at all bothered by it. A recent emigrant from a more human-heavy area. Occasional companion of Loki.
Character name: Loki
Species: Western Scrub Jay/Blue Jay
Gender: Female
Age: 3 years
Personality: A sly creature with a mocking manner and a homicidal tendency well-hidden in her normal interaction; there is nothing Loki delights more in than the eggs of other birds – particularly those of jays. Even if she is too full to consume the whole of the nest, she will toss the remnants from it in a compulsive frenzy. Social, despite the psychosis.
History: A series of disasters led to the death of the other chicks in Loki’s clutch, and she, on one occasion, spent most of a day alongside the chill corpse of her sibling. This, perhaps, explains her urge to remove eggs from the world before they hatch. Eating them to dispose of the chicks inside is pure pragmatism.
