I was thinking Zetsumei could maybe be... a slightly inspirational but shadowy figure when it comes to the pups. If you've read "The Sight" by David-Clements Davis, it would be similar to the wolf Fell. Zetsumei would then become this sort of... legend. Something the older wolves would tell their pups to keep them quiet at night or something. He could have a pack of rebels... Just your typical upset between the "lights" and the "darks." If you will. The pack would be similar to a herd of batchelor stallions. Together due to safety in numbers, but all willing and able to strike out on their own at any time. Any input? Zetsumei seems to be in the process of recruiting a member in Family Feuds. Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea for Tenuvial.

That's a fun idea, but I am not sure it aligns well with the nature of the RPG as a whole. When we start making a broad over-arching plot that affects everyone like a rebel conglomerate pack conflicting with the good guys, it changes the nature of the roleplaying, which restricts creative freedom. The other issue is realism; we do allow a lot of leniency in terms of individual quirks and some less than perfect pack structure (mostly if the pack was formed before the realism rules and were thus grandfathered in). However, a large group of unrelated males grouping up in an unstable/ill defined dominance structure and terrorizing other packs would be pretty far out there in terms of wolf behavior. Nature doesn't really have good and bad; it just kindof is.
That being said... I would surely have no objection to something a little less restrictive with similar ideas. Such as, Zetsumei is known in the region for his ill temperament and the potential danger he could pose, so he becomes part of the dangers many packs in those territories warn their pups about to discourage them from roaming off of pack lands. I wouldn't object to him getting to know a few other lone males and occasionally cooperating with them on hunts for the long winter as well. I'm basically just trying to avoid anything that would either lock us in one overarching plot or clash too severely with our realism rules.
I do think it's a cool plot, so if you want to maintain that exact format, may I suggest opening a minigames thread at All The Little Branches for that plot? Could be kinda spiffy. Salmagundi might even permit stuff like that now that it isn't solely restricted to Africa and many animals have humanoid traits that might alter their natural behavior.

Yeah, that sounds okay. See, Zetsumei is a bit complex... as in, he wants to be wanted. But... would never ask for it? So the only way he'd ever join a pack would be if he was begged, or if he made it himself. He's a bit of a mute snob. Heh, so yeah. He'll just be the creepy loner that scares the puppies. I'm just trying to find him a little niche where he can hang out. ;D

I certainly would not object to him amassing his own pack, even a slightly non-traditional one - I'm more concerned about the connotations of a "rebel" pack that terrorizes other packs since that would move the direction of the site into a polarized grand-plot RPG. As long as it doesn't go that way, I certainly don't object to you forming your own pack or at least having interaction with loner males. And we love complex characters here, so I like that he's not a cut and dry "antagonist."
