Zebra Farm Plot
Character Name: Tarmo
Species: Plains Zebra
Gender: Male
Age: 5 years
Personality: Tarmo has found himself in an odd bind: given his two mares by the humans, he doesn’t feel ready to have a herd but can’t bring himself to let go what he has. Thus, he is neurotically insecure about the mares’ protection, keeping them close together during grazing and meeting the approach of stallions with extreme aggression. Although once a light-hearted fellow, recent stress has turned him into a paranoid, biting, kicking mess.
Character Name: Emigdia
Species: Plains Zebra
Gender: Female
Age: 8 years
Personality: A solid and steadfast mare who balances Tarmo’s neuroticism quite well; she’s skilled at making suggestions to the stallion without challenging his dominance, and it might even be he appreciates the help.
Character Name: Flannery
Species: Plains Zebra
Gender: Female
Age: 4 years
Personality: Nearly as neurotic as her stallion, the blasé attitude of her father when humans separated her from her parental herd left a huge impression on Flannery, and she has since developed a case of low self-esteem which expresses itself as jealousy and aggression. Flannery once jostled Emigdia for dominance, but has since given it up as a bad job (Emigdia being quite able to hold her own). Any new mares would be free game, however. Tarmo’s paranoia and clinginess quite flatter the mare, and she has even become quite fond of him, although her encouragement of this behavior is not precisely helpful to the stallion.
Unrelated note: going to do some more character list pruning; mostly reptiles, I think.
