___Well, what do we have here? mused Odium as he peered through the trees, face cast in shadow so that his pale blind eye showed stark white in contrast. One of the new access roads leading into the park that was slowly perverting the North Eastern terrains was filling up with early morning human traffic, some of the first individuals being permitted in for the season. Four-wheelers with well stocked gun racks and trailers toting ATVs promised a very different sort of winter from the ones the wolves here were accompanied to. By Odium was not from here, and he recognized the game with a morbid anticipation. Guns, he feared, but where there were hunters there would be dogs, and where there were dogs there would be vengeance. The thought of their yelps growing strangled under the pressure of his jaws brought a jolt of excitement that prompted him to lick his lips and shift his footing, sniffing the air with an impatient whine. Hunting his abomination sons would have to wait; he knew where they were and simply needed to wait for an opportune time when they had departed their packs. For now, he could have a bit of entertainment ridding the land of the human-serving scum that disgraced the family Canidae.
___ Inhaling deeply, the air sharp and crisp in his nares, Odium grinned a bit upon catching the scent he was searching for - hounds. Only males, quite a shame with it being mating season and all, but their smell intrigued him. Not hounds with their greasy smelling fur and chronic ear infections, nor coursing animals who smelled like adrenaline wrapped in flesh. These were different - prime, healthy smelling specimens, their barks booming and fierce as an ATV engine roared to life, not the excitable puppyish yodeling of a beagle or foxhound. He watched the shimmering white expanse of the snowbound meadow with eager anticipation, hoping to catch sight of this intriguing new adversary.
___Ah - there! On the distant horizon, two lithe silhouettes emerged, thundering across the packed ice on large paws, barking boisterously with heads raised proudly. Both dogs were nearly identical black and white specimens, tails curled over their haunches, face and ears wolf-like, dense ruff protecting their throats. He could not put a name to Karelean Bear Dogs but was thrilled by their powerful appearance and bold venture into the unknown. The ATV behind them, though a hulking mass of loud, foul-smelling metal manned by an armed human, looked less intimidating somehow. Finally, he though with maniacal glee. He knew these two would not dissolve into the pathetic wordless horror that many dogs did the first time a wolf's teeth pierced their flesh. No, these dogs would fight - hell, it seemed a shame they were dogs at all. Ah but they were, filthy dogs sullying this pure wilderness with their presence, and when the time came... he would destroy them.
((I'm just really cranky right now, and plan on using this thread to dump anger for the next few days inbetween RPing so I can still write))
